Just realized that we forgot to send the log of the last meeting, here
you are.
Please note that two extra meetings have been added on Saturdays:
* Saturday the 7th of March 2026 at 13:00 UTC (14:00 CET, 10:00 ART).
* Saturday the 5th of September 2026 at 13:00 UTC (15:00 CEST, 10:00 ART).
Also, there's a meeting starting right now :)

## Friday the 2nd of January 2026 at 13:00 UTC (14:00 CET, 10:00 ART).

### People
gothos, ilario, cris, batata

### Topics

1. guest AP
2. Add some extra meeting for 2026
3. Updates about repo server and DNS
4. Hackathon Pirania jan 2026
5. Mastodon account: approving usage rules
6. Status of inclusion of GSoC 2025 contributed code
7. Next GSoC

# guest AP

Gothos propose a new feature, not high priority

add a guest network separated for IoT devices or guests

Ilario ask if Pirania has a similar feature, Batata thinks no.

Ilario thinks that is not a small work and at the moment there are a lot
of other works to do

## Add some extra meeting for 2026

first saturday of march and september

7th of march
5th of september

### updates about repo server and DNS

Javier spoke in person with NicoEchaniz, that is currently the only one
who has the contact of CodigoSur for modifying the DNS entries.

Ilario: This is clearly a problem.
Should we buy the domain and transfer it (we need NicoE collaboration
for this). We can afford this with the money from the donations.

Javier and NicoE created a subdomain requested by Gothos
https://firmware-selector.libremesh.org/

Currently the repo server is down, and its content has been re-created
and hosted on Valsamoggia’s Antennine server, thanks! The links to
repo.libremesh.org and downloads.libremesh.org have been removed from
the website, waiting for that server to be restored (we need NicoE to
ask CodigoSur or give us the contact with CodigoSur).

Registry Expiry Date: 2026-09-11T00:22:03Z
Name Server: ns1.codigosur.com
Name Server: ns2.codigosur.com
Name Server: ns3.codigosur.com

Domain name-> money: probably we can pay with donations

Which is the registar? bho

Cristina, takes the task ( maybe with Ilario?) to write to codigosur and
nicoEchaniz to be sure that we capy with donations the domain.

How we used the server?

hosting and compile -> money or ?

Ilario and Gothos suggest to use most the runners of gihub, or self
hosting runners with forgejo?

Where host the images? or support only the firmware selector?

Which is a good HD size for an ASU server + packages?

Example me says:CX43 Intel ® / AMD
8
16 GB
160 GB
20 TB
€ 0.0152
€ 9.49 max.

Gothos will buy the VPS for libremesh

Contabo VPS provider: €5.60/month for 12 months
CPU: 6 vCPU Cores
RAM: 12 GB RAM
Storage: 100 GB NVMe or 200 GB SSD
Snapshot: 2 Snapshots
Port: 300 Mbit/s Port

### hackaton on pirania jan 2026

small meeting in person, probably a part online

19-23 of January

Meeting to have a new release, related to this issue
https://github.com/libremesh/lime-packages/pull/1224

### mastodon account: approving usage rules

Our Mastodon account is:
https://social.freifunk.net/@libremesh

The proposed usage rules are:
https://lists.autistici.org/message/20251006.060502.27fd514f.en.html

### Status of inclusion of GSoC 2025 contributed code

#### Virtualizing LibreMesh with WiFi
The project is complete and it works, with some patience for setting up
all its components.

https://github.com/VGDSpehar/libremesh-virtual-mesh

We can ask Victor to merge that documentation with the one present here:
https://github.com/libremesh/lime-packages/blob/master/VIRTUALIZING.md

#### VLANs and Babeld
Removing VLANs from Babeld requires much more testing:
https://github.com/libremesh/lime-packages/pull/1210

#### odhcpd shared-state leases
Sharing DHCP leases with odhcpd requires just minimal testing, to be done!
https://github.com/libremesh/lime-packages/pull/1199

### Next GSoC
Timeline for 2026 is available
https://developers.google.com/open-source/gsoc/timeline

we can start proposing projects here:
https://github.com/freifunk/projects

ideas:
complete the babeld-only version of LibreMesh
