Hi all,
As agreed at the last meeting, I tried to upgrade the repo server to a
newer kernel/debian, but it resulted in broken system.
It already had broken apt dependencies, but currently the repo server is
really down and unreachable.
Maybe in the future someone, maybe from altermundi, with physical access
can move the old data to a newer installation. [0]
I would therefore add some details regarding the proposal to move the
firmware-selector under a subdomain
to restore at least that tool a bit more quickly.
This hasn't been discussed yet, but in the last meeting, it seemed that
generally it could be fine.
If one of the next meetings approves it, the task to do from someone
with access would be, as documented by github [1],
to add a CNAME for firmware-selector.libremesh.org that points to
libremesh.github.io.
checkable with dig it should return the same results as doing `dig A
feed.libremesh.org` and `dig AAAA feed.libremesh.org`
It would therefore be necessary to create the firmware-selector project
under the libremesh organization in github
About the repo server, if the physical access should prove to be not
doable, I would add this alternative to the points for discussion for
the next meetings:
1. use opencollective's money to buy a vps, i.e. from hetzner ~120€/year
to host precompiled firmware images
- vps: germany/finland: ~5€/month dualcore, 4GB RAM, 40GB storage, 20TB
traffic [2]
- storage box: ~5€/month 1TB [3]
[0] I hope something could move on this direction in a not too far future.
Since the repo.libremesh.org server was the same machine as
repo.librerouter.org also altermundi people could be involved.
