Subject: [Tails-testers] [Call for testing] Replace Florence with GNOME screen keyboard
Hi,

[Cc'ing people who expressed interest on the ticket]

we are experiencing too many issues with the Florence virtual
keyboard and are considering dropping it in favor of a better
integrated GNOME screen keyboard (ticket #8281).

Please test and report back about regressions you notice:

1. Download the latest experimental ISO image that contains this
change:
https://nightly.tails.boum.org/build_Tails_ISO_bugfix-8281-replace-florence-with-gnome-osk/lastSuccessful/archive/build-artifacts/

2. Start Tails from this ISO

3. Enable the "Screen Keyboard" feature in the Accessibility menu
(the human body embedded in a white disc, next to the keyboard
layout switcher icon)

4. Try whatever text input you feel should support this feature

5. Report back on this thread any regression compared to Florence,
including the full name of the ISO file you've tested.

Bonus points if first look at the list of known issues below.

Extra bonus points if you describe your use case a little bit:
accessibility, protection against hardware keyloggers, touch
device, anything else?

Thanks in advance!

Known issues (that you don't need to report, except when they have
implications not mentioned below):

* The on-screen keyboard layout does not reflect the physical
keyboard layout except for very few languages.

* Toggling the on-screen keyboard on/off requires two clicks instead
of one, which is a problem for those who use this tool
only occasionally.

* The GNOME on-screen keyboard uses lots of space when open and
cannot be moved, so it can partially hide the GUI one wants to use
it for.

Cheers,
