> Éupolis Lombardia ha il piacere di invitare i soci SISP alla prima Conferenza annuale dell'Istituto superiore per la ricerca, la statistica e la formazione di Regione Lombardia, dedicata al tema "Conoscenza e sviluppo". La Conferenza, prevista a Milano martedì 31 gennaio 2012 presso l'Auditorium "Giorgio Gaber" di Palazzo Pirelli (piazza Duca d'Aosta 3), intende approfondire il rapporto tra conoscenza e sviluppo, attraverso la presentazione delle attività dell'Istituto e del recente Rapporto OCSE sulla Lombardia. Nel corso della Conferenza verrà inoltre assegnato il "Premio Éupolis Lombardia 2012" a un personalità di chiara fama internazionale che, nella sua attività, si è distinta per aver promosso in maniera esemplare lo sviluppo della conoscenza a supporto del buon governo (mission di Éupolis Lombardia). > We are happy to announce the call for applications for the fourth Summer Institute on Empirical Implication of Theoretical Models at the University of Mannheim. EITM Europe is organized in close cooperation with the Washington University in St. Louis and offers an equivalent program. In 2012, the Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis will coordinate the EITM Europe Summer Institute at the University of Mannheim for the first time. This year's Summer Institute will take place from June 22 to July 7 2012. Like in previous years EITM Europe will offer tailored classes at the highest scholarly level. Except for the three days lasting refresher class, all classes include a five days program, starting on Monday morning and ending on Friday afternoon (from 9 to 12am, and from 1 to 5pm). The complete program encompasses a refresher course in mathematics and R, followed by the foundations class in game theory and Bayesian statistics, and a choice for an advanced class in either quantal response modeling and experiments or legislative politics and political text analysis. For former EITM and/or more specialized scholars, we also offer to join these classes separately. Under the direction of Thomas König, the teachers include Randy Calvert (WashU), Martin Elff (Essex), Mark Fey (Rochester), Will Lowe (Mannheim), Andrew Martin (WashU) and Sven-Oliver Proksch (Mannheim). > Energy transition is a topic that cannot be discussed in isolation. Neither from other international and national concerns, nor from economic, ecological, societal and military-political developments. The 2012 European International Relations Summer School for PhD students intends to tackle this complexity by taking an interdisciplinary approach to the study of energy transition. By bringing together and contrasting a broad range of disciplines this summer school intends to increase insights, find new inroads and create synergy in the complexity behind the many transitions that are taking place in energy. To further the debate on energy transition this two week Summer School will focus on three main disciplinary approaches to energy transition in the context of new theoretical approaches of World Society. The first angle comes from International Relations theory, the second from economics and the third from natural sciences.
