POLITICS OF FINANCIAL MARKETS The University of Michigan?s Department of Political Science is seeking approval for a tenure track position in the area of politics and financial markets to begin September 1, 2010. We are interested in candidates at the assistant professor rank. This is a university year appointment. Promise of excellence in research and teaching is required. The position is open with respect to subfield. For example, our interest includes, but is not limited to, candidates who study the political ramifications of international financial crises, the political foundations of financial regulation within countries, and the politics that underpin global financial systems. Applications received by September 15, 2009 will be given first consideration, although we will accept applications after that date. Applicants should submit a letter of interest that describes their research and training, curriculum vitae, writing samples, statement of current and future research plans, statement of teaching philosophy and experience, evidence of teaching excellence, and three letters of recommendation and graduate transcripts to: Chair, Politics of Financial Markets Search Committee, Department of Political Science, University of Michigan, 5700 Haven Hall, 505 S. American University School of International Service Faculty Positions One-year temporary non-tenure track positions at the level of Instructor or Assistant Professor for AY 2009-2010 (subject to budgetary authorization) with possibility of renewal available for a second year AY 2010-2011, based on budgetary authorization and satisfactory performance. Qualifications: Doctorate or equivalent strongly preferred; previous college teaching experience; scholarly research and publications preferred. Seeking areas of specialization in one or more of the following: Comparative & Regional Studies Cross-Cultural Communication Global Environmental Politics Human Rights International Communication International Development International Politics Quantitative Research Methods US Foreign Policy International Peace & Conflict Resolution Responsibilities: Undergraduate and graduate teaching; participation in School’s curriculum and program development; student advising; and University service.
