     It has been about two weeks since our last update, and even though =
everything seems to be over shadowed by the war in Iraq, we feel that =

General News

    We are bracing for a big event on Friday, April 11th, when all the =
refusal movements in Israel and many leftist organizations will join =
forces to protest against the occupation and for the refusal to serve in =
the IDF (in all its forms). We hope that many people will participate in =
the demonstration, and that by so doing, we will send out a clear =
anti-occupation message to the Israeli parliament, public, the =
Palestinians and the wider international community.

Jail News =20

    Two of our signatories are serving time at this point. One is Alon =
Andoran, 24 years old who was sentenced for 28 days on March 19th. The =
other is Yaron Beeri, 31 years old, who was sentenced for 28 days as =
well.=20

    As always letters of support for the ones in jail can be sent to =

Tours

    One of the ways in which we attempt to make our position clear and =
also gain support in the international community is by sending =
signatories on our letter to speak and participate in events and to meet =
with Jewish communities around the world. We have been very active in =
this regard in the last month.

    On March 13th-15th, Moshe Ingel participated in the founding EJJP =
(European Jews for Just Peace) conference in Brussels. The aim of the =
event was to facilitate some sort of cooperation between the different =
European organizations in order to try and create a different Diaspora =
Jewish discourse regarding Israel and its policies.  The aim of sending =
Moshe to represent us, along with participants from RSN and Yesh Gvul, =
was to get explicit support for the refusal movements in Israel and =
ensure that the issue is high on EJJP=92s agenda.

    And indeed, one of the final decisions of the EJJP was a declaration =
of its support of the Israeli refusal movement and a formation of a =
committee that will work with both RSN and the Israeli refusal movements =
in order to channel this support into action.

Objectors in the News

    The Israeli media, much like the international media, is primarily =
occupied with the war in Iraq. Therefore, there is scant reference to =
the Israeli refusal movement.  We hope that the April 11th demonstration =
will change this, even if only for a little while.

    Still, even though we weren=92t mentioned, there are other issues =
that affect both our view of the government and the international view =
of Israel. In light of this, we find it important to add some of these =
to our update.

    The issue of the legitimacy of the settlements in the West Bank and =
in the Gaza Strip has been a major one in the Israeli discourse for many =
years, Gideon Samet comments on the danger they pose on Israel:

but on the other seems to be hidden, and falsely represented. So it =
seems that the only decent comment regarding this war is =93give peace a =
chance=94.
