L'UE inserisce il PKK kurdo e i ribelli iraniani nella "lista del =

Bruxelles (Reuters) - I ribelli separatisti kurdi in Turchia e i =
guerriglieri con base in Iran che combattono il governo iraniano sono =
stati aggiunti alla lista europea dei gruppi "terroristi" messi al =
bando, secondo un diplomatico dell'UE sentito gioved=EC 2 maggio.

Un comunicato dell'UE ha confermato l'avvenuta estensione della lista di =
"persone, gruppi ed entit=E0 coinvolte in atti terroristici", i cui beni =
devono essere congelati in base alle regole delle Nazioni Unite, ma non =
ha specificato quali siano i movimenti aggiunti alla lista.

Le fonti diplomatiche precisano invece che sono stati inserite nella =
lista altre undici organizzazioni e sette individui, fra cui in =
particolare il Partito dei Lavoratori del Kurdistan (PKK) e =
l'Organizzazione dei Mujahideen del Popolo Iraniano.

La decisione dell'UE rappresenta un gesto significativo nei confronti =
della Turchia, paese alleato nella NATO e candidato all'adesione =
all'Unione Europea, e dell'Iran, con cui Bruxelles sta sviluppando =
contatti pi=F9 stretti nonostante il disappunto degli Usa.

Altri gruppi aggiunti alla lista sono un'organizzazione di guerriglia =
urbana della sinistra turca, il Partito rivoluzionario per la =
Liberazione del Popolo (DHKP/C), Aska Tasuna, un gruppo separatista =
basco operante in Spagna e meno noto dell'ETA, e il gruppo della =
sinistra peruviana Sendero Luminoso.

Sono stati inclusi anche tre gruppi operanti in India, fra cui il gruppo =
militante kashmiro Lashkar-e-Taiba, come contributo agli sforzi dell'UE =
di combattere il terrorismo dopo gli attacchi agli Usa dell'11 =
settembre.

E' anche questo il caso della setta giapponese Aum Shinrikyo, della =
milizia della destra colombiana "Forze Unite di Autodifesa" (AUC) e del =
pi=F9 importante gruppo militante islamico in Egitto, al-Gama'a =
al-Islamia.

I sette individui inseriti nella lista sono invece, secondo le fonti =
diplomatiche, persone tutte legate all'ETA, il principale gruppo =
separatista basco in Spagna.

La lista completa sar=E0 pubblicata venerd=EC 3 maggio sul bollettino =
ufficiale dell'Unione Europea. Il ritardo nell'annuncio dei nomi delle =
organizzazioni era dovuto alla volont=E0 di impedire che le =
organizzazioni aggiunte alla lista nera potessero prevenire il =
congelamento dei propri beni.

AMMONIMENTO DEL PKK

I diplomatici europei hanno escluso che possa trovarsi nella lista il =
Consiglio Nazionale della Resistenza Iraniana, braccio politico dei =
Mujahideen del Popolo guidato dalla moglie del leader guerrigliero =
Masoud Rajavi, con sede nei pressi di Parigi.

La lista non include neanche il radicale FPLP (Fronte Popolare per la =
Liberazione della Palestina), un'organizzazione marxista con base a =
Damasco i cui membri sono attivamente impegnati nell'insurrezione armata =
contro l'occupazione israeliana. Secondo i diplomatici, l'UE ha preso in =
considerazione la sua inclusione ma non ha raggiunto il necessario =
consenso.

I leader del PKK, che era stato escluso dalla bozza di lista stilata =
nello scorso dicembre, hanno ammonito gli europei sul fatto che la sua =
messa al bando susciter=E0 grande indignazione fra i tanti immigrati =

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Kurdish separatist rebels in Turkey and Iraq-based =
guerrillas fighting the Iranian government have been added to the =
European Union's list of banned "terrorist" groups, EU diplomats said on =
Thursday.=20

An EU statement confirmed that the list of "persons, groups and entities =
involved in terrorist acts" whose assets are to be frozen under United =
Nations rules had been extended, but it did not specifically identify =
the movements added.=20

The diplomats said 11 groups and seven individuals had been added to the =
list, notably the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Iranian =
People's Mujahideen Organization.=20

The EU move was a significant gesture toward NATO ally Turkey, a =
candidate for EU membership, and Iran, with which Brussels is developing =
closer ties despite U.S. misgivings.=20

Other groups added were a Turkish leftist urban guerrilla group, the =
Revolutionary People's Liberation Party (DHKP/C), Aska Tasuna, a Spanish =
Basque separatist group less well-known than ETA, and Shining Path, the =
Peruvian leftist group.=20

Three groups operating in India, including Kashmiri militant group =
Lashkar-e-Taiba, were also included in the list, part of the EU's =
efforts to combat terrorism after the September 11 attacks on the United =

WARNING FROM PKK

Diplomats said the "terrorist" designation would not cover the National =
Council of Resistance of Iran, the political arm of the People's =
Mujahideen headed by the wife of guerrilla leader Masoud Rajavi. The NCR =
has its headquarters near Paris.=20

The list omitted the radical Popular Front for the Liberation of =
Palestine (PFLP), a Damascus-based Marxist organization whose members =
are actively engaged in the armed uprising against Israeli occupation. =
Diplomats said the EU had considered including the PFLP, but there was =
no consensus.

Leaders of the PKK, left off the first EU list drafted last December, =
have warned the Europeans against the ban, saying it could spark outrage =
among the many Kurdish immigrants living in the 15-nation bloc.=20

The PKK has battled the army in southeast Turkey since 1984 in a =
conflict in which more than 30,000 people have died.=20

But it called off the armed campaign after the 1999 arrest of its leader =
Abdullah Ocalan, who is in prison in Turkey awaiting the outcome of an =
appeal against the death sentence.=20

The PKK decided this month to change its name to the Kurdistan Freedom =
and Democracy Congress, according to the Mezopotamya News Agency, close =
to the movement. Turkey says it continues to regard the group as =

battlefield and discourage dialogue.=20

"We are here for peace, but if our freedom is taken from us we are here =
