La memoria delle brutte scene capitate nel piccolo porto turco di =
Mudanya =C3=A8 ancora fresca. Nel maggio del 1999 una folla fanatica =
aizzata dai media tent=C3=B2 di linciare gli avvocati di Ocalan, di =
ritorno dall=E2=80=99isola di Imrali, l=E2=80=99isola prigione nel mare =
di Marmara. Questo provoc=C3=B2 loro numerosi problemi e solo con =
l=E2=80=99aiuto delle guardie riuscirono ad abbandonare l=E2=80=99isola. =
Questo incidente =C3=A8 stato anche portato all=E2=80=99attenzione della =
Corte europea dei diritti umani nella causa per il Presidente Abdullah =
Ocalan. Dopo l=E2=80=99incidente, che ha causato forti proteste, gli =
avvocati di Abdullah Ocalan sono stati in grado di continuare il loro =
lavoro senza eccessive pressioni o interferenze statali. Questo sta =
cambiando.

Dal 6 marzo Aysel Tugluk, Mahmut Sakar e Irfan Dundar sono a giudizio di =
fronte alla 6a camera della Corte per la Sicurezza dello Stato di =
Istanbul. Rischiando fino a sette anni di prigione.=20

L=E2=80=99avvocato Tugluk ha gi=C3=A0 ricevuto una condanna a tre anni e =
mezzo per aver definito il suo cliente "signor" Ocalan, nel corso di un =
dibattimento. Il giudizio non =C3=A8 ancora esecutivo. La condanna ad =
otto anni =C3=A8 dovuta al fatto che, secondo l=E2=80=99accusa, =
attraverso la diffusione degli scritti di Abdullah Ocalan si sarebbe =
contributo alla diffusione di materiale terroristico.=20

Neanche il Ministro della giustizia Sezer potrebbe trovare delle =
illegalit=C3=A0 in questi documenti. L=E2=80=99attuale processo ai =
legali di Ocalan coincide con la discussione circa la possibilit=C3=A0 =
di abolire la pena di morte. In particolare, il partito nazionalista di =
estrema destra, il MHP, vorrebbe vedere impiccato Ocalan. Nel frattempo =
la Corte di Strasburgo ha deciso che l=E2=80=99udienza principale del =
caso Ocalan si terr=C3=A0 nell=E2=80=99ottobre di quest=E2=80=99anno. =
L=E2=80=99attuale procedimento contro gli avvocati di Ocalan =C3=A8 un =
chiaro ostacolo al diritto alla difesa del Presidente Ocalan. Una =
condanna degli avvocati finirebbe per influenzare il corso del =
procedimento dinanzi alla Corte europea dei diritti umani.=20

"Internationale Initiative" condanna quest=E2=80=99attacco sulla base =
del diritto alla libera difesa. Chiedendo agli Ordini degli avvocati =
europei di agire contro quest=E2=80=99intimidazione delle autorit=C3=A0 =
turche. Chiedendo, inoltre, di intervenire presso le autorit=C3=A0 =
turche in nome dei loro colleghi turchi.
